Sallie Whitt/Witt was born to Edmund and Ann Witt[1] (see Research Notes), probably in Stokes County, North Carolina, based on her parents' presence there in the 1790 census. Her birth year was before 1790 based on her marriage in 1809, but her mother's child-bearing years needs to also be considered. Her brother Anthony was born about 1778 based on his Virginia death notice.
Marriage
A marriage bond was taken out on 12 Aug 1809 in Stokes County, North Carolina, by William Moore and Eli Beller for William's marriage to "Salley Witt". It's presumed Sallie and William were married soon after that date.[2].
Research Notes
Witt-1888 21:54, 22 March 2020 (UTC): Additional research is needed to support Sallie as the daughter of Edmund and Ann Whitt.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Salley by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Salley:
