Notes

Note N3341Her first name may have been Elizabeth
Two early Logan marriages in Sumner:
Logan, George Alexander, Peggy 27 May 1800
Logan, George Carothers, Esther 10 January 1810
John and Joseph Logan found on 1820 tax list--Drake's Creek.
West Logan found on 1816 tax list--east fork Bledsoe's creek.
John Logan found on 1818 tax list--the barrens
No Logans found before 1800.
There were Logans in Washington County Virginia at the same time as Richard Carr. His wife may have been a Logan, which would explain the name occuring in the Shaw family. She was just barely old enough to have married Richard before he went west. Benjamin appears as early as 1773 (son of John?) and David appears in a 1790 marriage. Richard Carr named sons David and John, and there are also Benjamin Carrs appearing in the early 19th century in Sumner. Furthermore, their first son, John L Carr, may well have been John Logan Carr.
Ther are no Logans on the Shaw side of the family.

The Logans lived in the same area as the Carrs--many of the same landmarks are mentioned in deeds. All are roughly south and southeast of Jefferson National Forest.
There are no early marriage records for Russell County (formed 1786 from Washington County.)
