John Wiggins was born in England about 1641. He arrived in Boston in 1656 and went to Rhode Island before going to the Southold, Long Island colony.[1]
He married Hannah Ryder, daughter of Thomas Ryder Sr., about 1671 in Southold. The source incorrectly states that Hannah is the daughter of Thomas Ryder and Abigail Terry.[1]
Based on the 1686 Southold Census of 3 males & 4 females [2], 2 sons and 3 daughters are listed for John and Hannah Wiggins, the order of birth uncertain, only that James is said to be the first child born about 1672:[1]
James - birth about 1672
John - married 14 Jan. 1701 Mary Harwood (Hoff p. 678)
Mary
Annis
Eliza
John Wiggins died after the 1686 Southold Census and before the 1698 Census, since his wife Hannah is listed in 1698 as "Hannah widow", with James, Annis, Eliza, Patience Rider in her household. The other children John and Mary are also listed in that census.[3]
