Biography

Charles Wiggins was born in 1840 at Henley in Oxfordshire. ^[1]

He emigrated to Australia with his parents. According to his obituary, this would have been in about 1848. ^[2]

However, he still seems to have been in England at the time of the 1851 census, when he was living at Caversham in Oxfordshire with his parents John and Mary. His age was given as 10, implying a birth date in 1840 or 1841. His birthplace was given as Henley, Oxfordshire. He was an errand boy. ^[3]

Charles Wiggins died on 8 October 1932 at Major's Creek near Braidwood in New South Wales. According to the obituary published in the local newspaper, he was 92 when he died. He emigrated with his parents from Henley in England when he was 8 years old. He left 5 sons and 3 daughters. ^[2]
