Catherine Wight was born 24 May 1790 in Ormiston, Scotland.[1] She was the daughter of James Wight and his wife Jeanne (Jean/Jane) McConochie. In 1794 she left Scotland for the U.S with her parents and siblings. A record of the family's departure from Scotland is recorded with her birth in the church sessions books in Ormiston, Scotland.[2]
