- Active WikiTreers: People who use WikiTree, as opposed to non-living or passive people whose records were created by others.
- Colloquial Name: This is way we display people's names in most places. It combines the first name people like to use with their current last name. This isn't necessarily the same as the full legal or formal name. For example, "Jonathan Q. Smith" colloquial name might be "John Smith".
- Downward Family Links: Direct descendants. Children, grandchildren, etc.
- Edit-Photo Page: For editing the title, location, date, people, and comments on an image.
- Family Network: The old name for the Trusted List. If you see this term mentioned somewhere, let us know so we can update the page!
- Lateral Family Links: Horizontal connections instead of upward or downward, e.g. siblings and spouse.
- Living People: Click here for the details on how WikiTree "decides" whether a person is alive.
- Manager: The leading WikiTree user for a profile of a person, place, or thing. The manager gets e-mailed Trusted List requests.
- Nuclear Family: Parents, siblings, spouse, and children.
- Passive Profile: A person, place, or thing who has information on WikiTree but has never used the site.
- Person Profile: The basic WikiTree page. This is the central location for information about a person.
- Upward Family Links: Direct ancestors. Parents, grandparents, etc.
- Wiki Biographical Textarea: The free-form wiki space on WikiTree Person Pages.
