Obituary

SANDWICH, MASSACHUSETTS, Roger G. Wilbur, Jr., 64, of Sandwich died Wednesday, September 19, 1990, after a long illness. He was the son of Mary G. (Nickerson) Wilbur of Machias, Maine.

He died at Falmouth Hospital.

He was born in Seekonk and lived in Sandwich three years, moving there from Dartmouth. He was the Superintendent for the Water Department in Seekonk for six years, retiring in 1980. He was the Commissioner for the Department of Public Works in Dartmouth for 25 years. Among his hobbies were vegetable and rose gardening, and he was an accomplished war historian.

Mr. Wilbur served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946, serving aboard various vessels and he received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, and others.

Survivors include his mother; a son, Roger G. III, of Sanford, Florida, a daughter, Eunice Pender of Rochester, Massachusetts; a brother, Gene S. of Lincoln, Maine; two sisters, Priscilla Mandell of Garden Grove, California, and Susan Darling of Machias, Maine; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, Massachusetts.
