Lorenzo Sayles Fairbanks, Genealogy of the Fairbanks Family in America 1633-1897, at page 51, entry #32 (Boston, MA: pub. by the author [American Printing & Engraving Co.], 1897).
Research note by Gillby Weldon (Weldon-647): It may seem strange that one of her sons was named after her husband, Jabez, but none of the daughters were named after her. However, there was a Mary Fairbank who married Ephraim Brown in Lancaster on 9 February 1719. His birth was about 1697, so hers would probably be about that time also. But the Lancaster VR lists no Mary Fairbank born about that time. So it is likely that Mary is one of the many people born in Lancaster during the indian disturbances who didn't get listed in the VR. Now it turns out that the 1719 mentioned above was just after this profile's Mary, wife of Jabez, died. Within a year, Jabez and his 3 grown children got married. Two of the children married into the same Brown family as Mary, and these three families all moved to Stow. When we combine all these facts, it seems highly likely that the wife of Ephraim Brown was also a child of Jabez Fairbanks.
