Biography

Joseph Wilder was born to Thomas and Mary Wilder in Lancaster, Massachusetts July 5, 1683. [1] He married Lucy Gardner at Lancaster in 1702. [2] He was a Judge and Chief Justice of the Common Pleas. He died March 29, 1757. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

Joseph is the son of Thomas and Mary Wilder. He was a deacon in 1715. Also a judge in the courts of Maine, then a part of Massachusetts. In 1732 he was appointed a judge of the court of common pleas for Worcester county, and from 1741 until his death he served as chief justice. In 1739 he was made judge of probate for Worcester county, which office he also held until his death.

Joseph married Lucy Gardner on 5 Jan 1707 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Among their children are:

I agree that Wilder 773 should be merged with Wilder 42 without any changes to the existing information for Wilder 42.

Wilder-773 and Wilder-42 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth dates and marriage to Lucy (Gardner) Wilder. I am proposing a merge of the wife Lucy Gardner-2690 into Lucy Gardner-2842 as well. Currently, Joseph Wilder-773 and Lucy Gardner-2690 are duplicates attached as parents only to Lois (Wilder) Gardner Wilder-772 and the parents need merging and their children need integrating.

Wilder 1558 should be merged with Wilder - 42. Clearly the same person.
