[2] He is listed in the Property Tax Digests for Tattnall County in 1853 and 1855. [3] [4] Jesse passed away in 1857. [5]

In the Tattnall County Georgia Loose Papers, the following was noted:

25 October 1858 {Case}. William Cowart, Jr. (note spelling) vs. William Cowart, Sr., Administrator on Estate of Jesse Wilds, deceased. Defendant answers to case.

27 Oct 1858 {Petition} William Cowart, Jr., says on 02 September 1858, Jesse Wilds, late of Tattnall, deceased, surveyed a tract of land of 364 acres as follows:

South by Dempsey Hallman, East by Eason and Jarrell, West by B. Cowart

Jesse Wilds obtained a grant and promised William Cowart, Jr., that as soon as Cowart had reimbursed him for the money it cost for the grant and would work for him 1 month, he would make title to Cowart in fee simple. William Cowart, Jr., fulfilled his part by paying the expenses to Wilds and working for him one month. Before Wilds could make the title to him, he died. William Cowart, Senr. has applied for administration of Jesse Wilds. William Cowart, Jr., has requested him as Administrator to make title to him, but he has not. Bacon and Levy, Plff. Atty. (Plaintiff Attorney)

27 Oct 1858 It is declared by the Jury that title be made to William Cowart, Jr. Wm. W. Tippins, Foreman[6]
