John was born on 22 Aug 1774 in Wellfleet, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of Levi Wiley and Rebecca (Stubbs) Wiley.

He married Hannah Cahoon on 17 Dec 1797 in Wellfleet, Ma.

He he was lost at sea on 2 Jun 1825.
