Note: Following is from the obituary published in the local newspaper:
Death of Nellie Wiley.
Little Nellie Wiley, daughter of Sanford Wiley, northwest of Richwood, died last Saturday after suffering for about 15 years from a disease which caused her to be an invalid during all that time.
She was born January 2, 1882, and was 17 years, 2 months and 2 days old when called to answer the summons of Death. For years she had been a great sufferer and several times relatives and friends gave up all hope, when she rallied and anxiously inquired about the welfare of the other members of the family.
Her mother died about twelve years ago, and Nellie, in her childish innocence, often expressed herself as being anxious for the time to come when she should join her in their eternal home. The fourth verse in the 21st chapter of Revelations was always a favorite with her and during her last hour she requested her father to have the minister use it as a text at her funeral. When the time came for her spirit to take its flight, she quietly passed away with her arms around her father's neck.
