John was born in 1855. He was the son of Pendleton Wilhoit and Sarah Stonestreet. He passed away in 1939.

Rufus Wilhoit, 84 Years of Age, Passes Away Wednesday Morning

Rufus Wilhoit, aged 84 years, a life-long resident of Inclose community, passed away at his home early Wednesday morning, following an illness of several weeks duration. He had suffered a light stroke about eight weeks ago and had not been well since that time.

The funeral service was held this (Thursday) afternoon at the Pleasant Hill church, with Elder S. A. Dawson officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

John Rufus Wilhoit, a son of Pendleton and Sarah Wilhoit, was born south of Kansas and lived his entire life span of 84 years in the community in which he was born. He was one of eleven children, only one of whom, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Stark, aged 88 years, survives.

At the age of 21 years, he was united in marriage to Martha McLain, who passed away Jan. 26, 1925. Three children have also preceded their father. They were Joe, having died at the age of 2 years; Raymond, aged 5 years, and Mrs. Agnes Young, who passed away at the age of 33 years.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Doll Aikens of Zion; Mrs. Flo Bell of Charleston; Mrs. Gertrude Ross, Dymple, Elmer, Cecil and Vernie of Paris; Floyd, Homer and Glen, of Kansas. There are also 37 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
