Biography

Abram was born in 1774. He was the son of Tobias Wilhoit and Polly Shirley (or Ballenger). He passed away in 1851. Don't know about Abram's life before he became part the Shaker's, but he must have been a farmer. His wife, Elizabeth Roby's father, Lawrence Roby had property in the area and a tavern in his house. Abram and Elizabeth became Shakers sometime after their children were born.

Research Notes

Elizabeth's father died 1817 and left her 10 shillings, which leads me to believe Abram and Elizabeth were Shakers by this time. Will states: daughter Polley GREENWELL to get ninety dollars, daughters Patsy, Catherine, Susanna, and Hannah ROBY each to get ninety five dollars and also my daughter Elizabeth WILHOIT to receive ten shillings to be paid out of my estate after my decease. will of Laurence ROBY is found in Bullitt Co. Book A p. 191 ( why the jump between dollars and shillings?)
