Biography

Anna Bell Wilkey, daughter of James and Isabell Wilkey, was born 4 August 1840 in County Donegal, Ireland.[1][2]

She married John M. Garrison on 22 December 1858 in Henry County, Illinois.[3] They were the parents of seven children:

  1. Emma Frances Garrison
  2. Mary Elizabeth Garrison
  3. Frank Deforrest Garrison
  4. Ida Belle Garrison
  5. Margaret Alice "Maggie" Garrison
  6. Martha M Garrison
  7. Harriet Rebecca Garrison

Anna, age 91, died on 27 November 1932 in Gravity, Taylor, Iowa and was buried at Washington Cemetery in Gravity, Taylor County, Iowa. [1] [2]

Obituary

Taylor County Herald Thursday December 8, 1932 Mrs. J. M. Garrison Anna Belle Wilkey was born near Castlefinn, Donegal County, Ireland, August 4, 1841. At the age of 7 years, she came to America with her parents and settled in Henry County, Illinois.

At the age of 17, she was married to John Milton Garrison, Dec. 23, 1858. To this union were born seven children, six daughters and one son, all of whom are living except Ida Flowers, who passed away while caring for her mother, about seven years ago. The remaining living children are: Mrs. Emma Pfander of Clarinda, Mrs. Mary Fleming of Gravity, Frank Garrison of Lodi, California, Mrs. Maggie Damewood of Burlington, Wisconsin, Mrs. Mattie Lawson of Clarinda, and Mrs. Hattie Lowden of Council Bluffs; who with one brother, John D. Wilkey of Enid, Okla., and one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Harrison of Duluth, Minn., 39 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss.

Mrs. Garrison has been bedfast about eight weeks, and passed peacefully away at noon, Sabbath, Nov. 26, 1932, at the age of 91 years, three months and 23 days. She had been a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church, a wonderful mother and a friend of all who knew her.

The funeral service was held in the home Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. C. F. McMican, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Bedford, and interment was made in the Gravity cemetery. contributor Julia Johnson
