Biography

Floyd Cleveland Wilkey was born 6 June 1892 in Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky.[1][2] He was the son of James Harvey Wilkey and Anna Laurentine (Franklin) Wilkey, [3] In the 1900 U.S. Census, Floyd Wilkey was recorded as 8-years old living in Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky with his parents and siblings. [3] He had four brothers and seven sisters.

Floyd attended the public schools of Hopkins County and served in the Army during World War I. He attended Western Kentucky State College and Bowling Green Business School. He later served as Sheriff in Hopkins County.

He was married 1 September 1836 at at the First Christian Church in Madisonville, Hopkins, Kentucky to Gladys Isabelle Marks [4], daughter of William Jesse and Geneva (Myers) Marks. They didn't have any children.

After serving as Sheriff, he served as Chief of U.S. Scouts, stationed at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. He later returned to Hopkins County and served as Parole and Probation Officer.

Floyd, age 68, died 15 February 1961 at the Veterans Hospital in Marion, Williamson, Illinois and is buried at Beulah Cemetery, Beulah, Hopkins County, Kentucky.[2]
