Birth & early life

Dollie "Dela" Maye Wilkins was born on 17 March 1903 in Hill County, Texas, United States of America[1][2][3][4]

In 1910 she was living in Justice Precinct 5, Hill County, Texas with her parents and older siblings, and John & Ida Wilkins next door.[5]

Marriage & Family

Dollie Maye Wilkins married William Leroy "Lee" Briggs on Feb 18 1922[1][6] when she was 18.[7]

In 1930 Dela and Lee Briggs were living on Farrin Street, Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas. Lee was an odd-job labourer and Dela cared for the home and thier daughter, Doris.[8]

The 1940 census shows Dollie and her husband living in Limestone County, Texas with their 14 year old daughter and Dollie's 80 year old mother. Dollie was an unpaid family worker, who had lived in the same house in 1935. [9]

Death & Burial

Dollie died on 6 March 1983 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas[10][11] and is buried with her husband in Faulkenberry Cemetery, Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas.[1] [12][13]

Ancestral File K76K-S5 on Family Search that matches Dollie's family members by name, but there is a discrepancy on the dates when compared to the census returns and the info on ancestry trees
