George S. Wilkinson was born April 9, 1847 in Grant county, Wisconsin.[1] Three years later his father left for California, leaving the family. They traveled by ox cart to California to join him in the early 1860s.[2] The 1860 census (June 30, shows the family still in Wisconson.[3] but settled in Liberty, San Joaquin, California in 1870[4] and 1880.[5] In 1896 he was in Woodbridge, San Joaquin, California[6] but by 1900 he had moved to Harney, Clark, Washington[7] but returned California to Redondo Beach by 1920.[8] Kelly says that George had six children.[9]
