Research Notes

The sources listed don't provide enough evidence to know who Jane (Wilkerson) Blackmore was, or if she even existed. The FindAGrave memorial doesn't provide any verifiable information, and there's no gravestone photo or burial details. [1] The other listed source, the Diary and Family History of Julius Birge, doesn't seem to be generally available so it's impossible to evaluate the sources it's based on.

The Register of North Farnham Parish in Richmond County, Virginia, lists the birth of a Jane Wilkinson, daughter of Charles and Jane Wilkinson, on 10 March 1715. The births of her three siblings—Elizabeth, Bridgett and Pickrill—also appear in the Register. But other Register entries rule her out as a candidate: Jane Wilkerson married Owin Jones on 19 January 1730/31; they had a son, David Jones, born 10 Feb. 1731; and Jane Jones died 8 Dec. 1749. [2] If these entries all refer to the same person, then she couldn't be married to Samuel Blackmore and having children with him in the 1730s and 1740s.

Can anyone supply a verifiable source for the wife of Samuel Blackmore Sr.?
