David, son of John and Mary (Hayward) Willard, was born on 09 September 1699 in Concord, Middlesex, Province of Massachusetts Bay. [1]
A court inquiry occurred on 08 December 1727, requesting his condition, to which his brother Jonathan said he was of weak understanding. On 09 March 1729 a guardian was appointed for David Willard "non-compos" of Concord, son of John Willard, deceased. This first guardian was Joseph Wright of Concord. David was mentioned in his father's estate settlement on 25 September 1732, which mentioned Joseph Wright as his guardian.[2] After Wright's death, bond was given by Nathaniel Wheeler of Acton assigned as the next guardian on 17 Jan 1757 to support and provide a decent burial for William Wheeler's brother [-in-law] David Willard.[3]
