Biography

John Wilcoxson immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

John Wilcoxson, was the oldest son of William Wilcoxson; he came with his parents to America in 1635 and then to Stratford, CT in 1639.[1]

Per Robert Charles Anderson in the Great Migration, he was age 2 when his father and mother came to New England. His birth should be England, probably Derbyshire where his parents may have been from.

John Wilcoxson, of Stratford, CT, son of William, moved to Boston and resided there a number of years. His father sent for him to return to Stratford promising one-half his property.[2]

At first, both John and William settled near their father on the east side of Main Street, opposite the meeting house. Afterwards, they both removed about one and a half miles to the north part of town where many descendants live (as of 1893).[3] [4]

After Elizabeth's death, John remained in Stratford with his brother Timothy, after the balance of the family moved away. Timothy was a Deacon of the Stratford Church.[5]

A nuncupative will expressed to Samuel Sherman and John Birdseye, to Barnabas Beers half an accrue of his home lot in Stratford; to his son John his dwelling house and rest of his home lot. Confirmed to other children, land previously given to them. Inventory done Nov. 17, 1690.[6]

Deacon John Wilcoxson[7][8] was born calculated 1633 in England. He died Nov 1690 in Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut . John married Johanna Titterton on 1656.

Willcockson-25 and Wilcoxson-13 appear to represent the same person because: Name should be spelled Wilcoxson per PPP Wilcoxson-13 profile. Same birth year, both in Derby, England, same death date (see bio of -13 for Nov 1690 date), same death place. Source on -25 reflects same person & family as -13. Please merge.
