Biography

Mrs Grace Riggs, 83, of Arthur and a native of Richland County, died September 3, 1969 at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Vine Street Christian Church at Arthur Cemetery. She lived near Olney for many years before moving to Central Illinois with her family. Mrs. Riggs was born May 31, 1886 in Richland County, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Goss) Wilhite. She married Raymond Riggs April 9, 1905, in Olney. He died Dec. 29, 1942. Survivors include two sons, Ira of Arthur and Charles of Salem, Ind.; and two daughters, Mrs. James (Loretta) Hendrickson, Arthur, and Edna Riggs, Decatur. Nineteen grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren also survive.
