Biography

Robert was born in 1847. Although his middle name is spelled several different ways in various records (Lindsey, Lindsay, Linsie), on his son, John's, delayed birth certificate, Robert's middle name is spelled 'Linzy'. John's birth year was 1876. The birth certificate says Robert was 26 years old at the time of his son's birth and that Robert was born in Tennessee.

"Robert Linzie Williams was my Great Grandfather. He had five children, two sisters, and one brother. He was the son of Jim and Annie Williams. He married Mary Tucker 1871. He was a saw-mill and Grist mill owner. He had a cotton gin. He lived on the west side of the railroad track at Canadian Oklahoma. All of his children was born at Canadian, Oklahoma. His wife died in 1900 of child birth. She and the baby are buried at Canadian. He lived at Dorsie, Oklahoma by the McAlester Lake in 1905. He and son John R. Williams owned a saw-mill and a grist-mill, post office, grocery store. His daughter-in-law named the town. He moved the saw-mill to Scipio. He lived there until 1916, then moved to Decatur Arkansas. He bought a home, farm, and fruit orchard. He became ill and went to live with daughter Margret. He died and was buried at McCurtain, Oklahoma."^[1]
