Bessie was born in October 1881 in Pennsylvania. He full name seems to have been "Betty Jane Williams", not Elizabeth, but she was usually called Bessie.
She married Leonard James Clezie on 15 June 1904 at Lakewood, Ohio. The marriage certificate said she was born at Sheakleyville, Pennsylvania but other records show her place of birth was Shakesville, Pennsylvania. Both are names of actual places in Pennsylviania. So, which was the correct place of birth?
Bessie was listed in the 1910 U.S. census at Cleveland, Ohio; 1920 census at Warrensville, Ohio; 1930 & 1940 censuses at Shaker Heights, Ohio. Leonard Clezie's draft registration card in 1942 showed their address was 3461 Warrensville Center Road, Shaker Heights, Ohio.
Bessie died in 1951 at Cleveland and was buried at Highland Park Cemetery, in Highland Hills, Ohio, where the grave marker shows "Betty Jane Clezie".
Note: Marriage record of her son Leonard in1937 said his mother's name was "Bessie Thompson" instead of Williams but that seems to have been a simple error. So much name confusion!
