George Williams was a Founder by trade.

George Williams was born 1705 in Isle of Wight, Virginia to parents George Williams, and Sarah Mann. [1] Gordon Corey Ralls Book

George Williams II married Jane (Jean) Pope, the daughter of Nathaniel Pope III (1669 - 1719) of Westmoreland Co., Virginia and Jane Browne (16?? - 1752. Jane (Jean) Pope was the daughter of Nathaniel Pope III (1669-1719 of Westmoreland Co. and Jane Browne ( - 1752). Jane [Jean] Pope's parentage may be found on page 98; the births of all their children are recorded in THE REGISTER OF OVERWHARTON PARISH. Their daughter, Margaret Williams married at a very young age to Capt. John Ralls, Jr. (1724 - 1763) who died testate in Stafford Co. before his father.[1]

George Williams appears in Stafford County in 1726 as a witness to deeds; the records describe him as a founder. About this time Captain Augustine Washington and several business associates began operations at the Accakeek Iron Works in Stafford County with John England, Iron Master, formerly with the Principio Iron Works in Maryland, as superintendent. George Williams acquired a plantation in Overwharton Parish. [2]

Son Nathaniel ; wf Jane ; son Benjamin; son George; dau. Margaret Ralls, land in Pr. William County. Three sons, John Pope, Jesse, Charles, remdr Pr. Wm. lands. Five youngest sons, George, Benjamin, George, John Pope, Jesse, Charles (minors). Gr. dau. Lydia Beck Ralls; son John who is resident in some part of England, 1 sh. Son-in-law, John Ralls, Jr. Mentions Accotink Iron Mine Co. Watch to friend George Waller. Wf, son Nathaniel and Mr. Nathaniel Chapman, Maj. Peter Hedgman and George Waller, extrs. Wit: Allen, Honey, Randall, Holbrook. Stafford, Va., Jany 31,1749-50 — 10 Apr 1750. pg 0-89.

Notes

By his last will and Testament dated January 31, 1750 [which was proved April 10, 1750 and presented to court by Jane WILLIAMS and George WALLER] he mentions the cash due to him from the Accakeek Iron Mining Company. George Williams appears to have been previously married as by will he bequeathed to his son John Williams in England one shilling and no more. [3]
