The 1860 Federal Census lists John and his family still residing in Carrolton with his wife Lucretia and nine children. His age is listed as 43, not the expected value of 40.
The 1870 Federal Census of Sanford, Covington, Alabama (over 200 miles SE of Carrolton) lists John R. Williams as age 51 with his wife Lucretia, age 48, and 13 children.
