Sophronia was born in 1800 in New York. She moved to and was recorded as having lived in Grand Blanc, Michigan in the U.S. Census of 1850, 1860, and 1870. Sophronia (Williams) Straw - Hallock passed away in 1876.[1]
Following the family lines around Sophrinia can be confusing. Both she and Amos Hallock were married once before Sophrinia and Amos became married. And they both had similarly named children from their first marriages (e.g. Sarah and Sarah, Almira and Elmira and Alma, Hannah and Hannah). The most confusing may be Almira (HALLOCK, b. 1824 vs. Elmira (STRAW / STRAUGH), b. 1820). Elmira (STRAW) appears in the following reference named as such, but her grave stone and other references state "Almira" also. And it is within these generations that STRAW is alternately spelled as STRAUGH.
