Biography
James Arlington Williams, son of Jesse and Martha Bennett (Wills) Williams, was a man of exceptional intelligence. The eldest of four children, he began helping support his family during the Depression while in his teens. He worked a variety of jobs during those years, including as a school bus driver and as a movie projectionist. He taught himself to repair radios and televisions and began a radio and television repair business in Whitesville, WV, in the 1940s. With his wife, Freda May (Hudson) Williams, he began one of the first cable television systems in the United States. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had an extremely dry sense of humor. He died of a heart attack on 7 Dec 1983.
