Biography

Sir William Williams 2nd Bt. (c.1665-1740), of Glascoed, Llansilin, Denbighshire^[1]

Eldest son of the 1st baronet, Sir William Williams,^[1] he married twice:

1. Jane, daughter and coheir of Edward Thelwall of Plas y Ward, Denbighshire (married 1684; she died 1706)^[1]
2. Catherine, daughter of Mytton Davies of Gwysan, Flints.^[1]

He had six children by his first wife: four sons and two daughters.^[1]

On 11 July 1700, he succeeded his father as 2nd Baronet. He served as sheriff of Denbighshire 1695–6, Montgomeryshire 1704–5, Merion. 1705–6, and Caern. 1706–7.^[1]

"Williams died on 20 Oct. 1740, aged about 75. His son, Sir Watkin, 3rd Bt., who succeeded to the Wynn estates in 1719 and henceforth assumed the additional name of Wynn, sat for Denbighshire and Montgomeryshire 1716–49...."^[1]
