birth date is estimated on him being 44 years old at time of death...
William lived at Clyde, but while working in Roxburugh in a Coal Pit he was killed during a fall of a body of Coal. He will be sadly missed as he was a good workman and appreciated for his musical talent, the Violin being his favourite, He leaves a wife, children and stepchildren.
Ernest is not a child of William if the dates are correct.
