Catherine Williams was born about 1734. Her birthplace remains a mystery. She was not from St. Peter's Parish of New Kent, Virginia. Although there were many Williams families in the Isle of Wight, she does not appear to be related. She married Henry Lankford in Granville County, North Carolina in 1758. Henry Lankford and Catherine Williams had been "informally" married and their 1st two sons, Jesse born 1756 and William born 1757, were born before their marriage was blessed by a minister in Jan/Feb 1758.
In the ensuing years, they had seven named children: Parrish, John, Moses, Sarah, Susannah, Nancy, and Tabitha.
Henry and Catherine migrated to Tennessee with three of their children (Parrish, Moses and Susannah) before the 1820's. Catherine died at the age of 96 in 1830.
