Biography

Richard E. Williams was born in Cardiff, Wales, February 25th 1837 January 31st 1837, [1] and departed this life on June 30th, 1929, aged 92 years, 4 months and 5 days.

He came with his parents to this country when but five years of age, locating at Milwaukee (Wisconsin), remaining there until a young man when he located at Ottawa, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Ann Teter, March 12th, 1868. [2] To this union were born nine children, two of them proceeded him in death.

With his family he came to Nebraska in the year 1885 and took a claim on what is know as Redfern Table, remaining there until ten years ago when he moved to Callaway, Nebraska where he has since resided.

He suffered a stroke of paralysis on June 20th, and after ten days of illness passed away. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and seven children, Mrs. Dick Watkins and Mrs. Grant Patterson of Callaway, Nebraska, Mrs. Henry Wheeler of Kearney, Nebraska, and W. J. Williams of Bridgeport, Nebraska, and J.T Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah, 26 grandchildren and a host of relatives.

The funeral services were held at Callaway Evangelical Church on Tuesday afternoon, July 2nd, Rev. F. E. Drum of Beaver Crossing, conducted the funeral services. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. [3]
