I am looking at your profile for "8609847694 Michael P. Williams." I don't know what the 8609847694 signifies, but it probably does not belong in the prefix field. The prefix is for titles like Rev., Capt., Sir, or Dr. I hope that helps.

Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Michael, I am Mary Richardson, a Mentor. Thought I would send along some helps for you. You are right: Go slow on the entry, methodical.... Add one ancestor at a time to avoid confusion, Save, before going to the next.

Check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started. Help Index has links to topics to questions.

Our goal is to build a universal tree with one profile per person, so please make sure to look for Duplicates on WikiTree BEFORE adding a profile. DOB, DOD, locations and references are stressed to be attached to every person helps all.

If you reach ancestor present on WikiTree, want to add your data, contact the PM for Trusted List access.

Check out G2G (1st box on left, top of your page.

Other questions, drop a note.~Mary

Welcome, Michael! Do you plan to add to our tree here, or are you just doing research? If you want to add to the tree (and perhaps volunteer for some of our projects), please just post a quick note, and I'll be happy to confirm your membership!

Hi All - My name is Michael Williams, and I'm an older lawyer who has just begun to examine my family history and origins. One of the early and unexpected benefits has been contacts by cousins whom I never new existed! And now I'm learning, as so many have before me, that in genealogy "slow, steady and methodical" are all virtues.

Hi Michael. I see that you have uploaded your DNA for comparison. Did you know that we have a project for DNA where a lot of things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like more details.

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step instruction of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The Help Pages give lots of information about the process starting with: 'Before you import a GEDCOM'

Find instructions here for reviewing your GEDMatch Report if you want to import it into WikiTree.
