Sanford was born in 1886, the second child of Edward and Emma Williams.[1]
He married Cecelia Chase in 1909,[2] and in 1910, Sanford's father Edward and fourteen-year-old sister, Pearl, were living with them in Ingallston, where Sanford was a fisherman.[3]
