Biography
Olive was the daughter of George and Caroline Williams.
A Report in the Lithgow Mercury dated March 17, 1926 reads:
"WEDDING IN LITHGOW.
A pretty wedding was celebrated at the 'Mort-street Methodist Church on Friday evening, the principals being Olive Hilda, youngest daughter of Mrs. "Williams, of Reed Avonue, and George, only son of Mr. and Mrs. George Weston,jnr, of Willis-street, Mort 's Estate. The ceremony was performed by Rev.William Coleman. Miss Holdford, church organist presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her step-brother, Mr. Henry Garratt, was greatly admired as she approached the communion rails. She wore a smart gown of ivory .crepe-de-chine with silver trimmings, also the customary wreath of orange blossoms, from which fell a rich veil, kindly lent for the occasion by her sister-in-law, Mrs. W. Butler, of Bankstown. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a costly hand-bag, while the bride presented the bridegroom with a travelling rug. Miss Madge. Weston (sister of the bridegroom) was bridesmaid. Her dress was of eau-de-nil crepe-de-chine trimmed with gold lace, with bandeau to tone. Her present was a gold armlet, in addition to a beautiful bouquet. The bride's bouquet was also the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. V. Pedler was best man.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the bridal party, accompanied by numerous friends, repaired to the Ecole-de-Danse, where Mrs. Bolt had in waiting an excellent supper. Mrs. Williams received her guests in a dress of black brocade, radium lace trimmings, and cinnamon georgette hat trimmed with forget-me-nots. Prior to taking their places at the head, of the table, the happy couple received the felicitations of their friends.
Mr. Coleman presided, and after the toast of "The King," proposed that of the Bride and Bridegroom," who were referred to as very estimable young people.-
The bridegroom responded, and in turn proposed " The Bridesmaid, " on whose behalf the best man responded. Mr. B. Northey proposed "The Bride's Mother," and Mr. G. Tyer paid a similar compliment to the "bridegroom's. parents". Mr. and Mrs Geo. Weston, junr. The former made a neat response. The chairman proposed "The Grandparents of the Bridegroom"- — Mr. and Mrs. G. Weston,snr. Mr. Jack Weston, junr. acknowledged the toast on behalf of his parents, who are very old and respected residents.
The young couple were the recipients of numerous and useful presents, in addition to cheques. Mr. and Mrs. Weston, whose future home will be in Lithgow will spend their honeymoon in the country."
