Biography
John Williams son of John and Mary Williams was baptised at Foston-on-the-Wolds on 4 March 1792. [1] John moved to Kilham where he became the miller.
On 23 March 1819 at All Saints he married Elizabeth Nicholson, daughter of Robert Nicholson of Bempton and his wife, Ann Collinson. [2] They raised their family at the mill in South Street. [3][4]
John died 22 July 1856 [5] and was buried at Kilham All Saints on 25th. [6]
" Sacred to the memory of ..............Williams who departed this life...........April 1856 aged ..9 years...........truly devoted wife.............affectionate memory. Sacred to the memory of John Williams late Miller of this place who departed this life 22nd July 1856 aged 64 years. He lived a much respected and honest man. Anna Maria Williams who died July 1847 aged 2..years. She early in life became a member of the Baptist Church and continued a faithful member to her death. A flower when offered in the bud is no vain sacrifice. Sacred to the memory of five of their children who died in infancy. This stone was erected in affectionate remembrance by their children now residing in Australia." [7]
