Edith was born in 1893. She was the daughter of Mary Williams and Unknown father.
At the age of 20 She married William Edward John Earl on 14 March 1913 in Dunedin.
They had two children;
In the 1914 Electoral Roll Edith and William were living at 26 Blacks Road, NE Valley, Dunedin.
In 1917 her husband was recorded in the World War I Reserves as a woodcutter living in Burn Street, Ohakune. Mystery surrounds what happened to William after this date. His mail was redirected to his parents address in Aongatete in the Bay of Plenty, and he was apparently never heard from again. He may have moved to Australia, or changed his name.
Edith appears in the 1928 Electoral Roll as married and living at Duncan Street, Raetihi.
She married, secondly, Samuel Freeman in 1931.
Tragically her only daughter Jessie passed away in 1939 at the age of 25.
Her husband Samuel died in January 1960.
She passed away on 8 December 1966 at the age of 73 in Wellington Hospital and was cremated on 10 December 1966 at Wellington Crematorium, Wellington. On 12 April 1967 her ashes were interred at Raetihi Cemetery with her daughter Jessie (Row 20, Plot 5).
