Mary was born February 15, 1793, a daughter of Micajah Williamson and Sarah Gilliam. Mary's sister, Sarah Williamson married John Griffin, in 1793. Mary's father died in December, 1796, shortly before her fourth birthday. On March 7, 1808, Mary Williamson, orphan of Micajah Williamson chooses John Griffin guardian. [1]
Mary met her future husband, Colonel Duncan G. Campbell, when he moved from North Carolina to Washington, Wilkes county, Georgia, to study the law under her guardian, Judge John Griffin. Their son, John Archibald Campbell would follow in his father's footsteps and become an Assistant Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Mary's husband died July 31, 1828, in Washington, Wilkes county, Georgia, and is buried in the Resthaven Cemetery, next to his brother-in-law, Judge John Griffin. Mary died February 8, 1862, in Mobile, Alabama and is buried in the Magnolia Cemetery, where their daughter, Sarah Green (Campbell) Chandler, is also buried. [2]
