Biography

William was born in 1867. He was the son of Richard Williamson and Ellen Lake. He passed away in 1943.

Transcription of Family History Notes written by Evelyn Williamson Vance. "First one in Sacramento was Robert Williamson - said to be rich and a very nice person. Next was Uncle Allen quite a few year before his brother Bill. Then Bill & Raymond came out Pop was about 13. Aunt Glenna said she remembered Uncle Allen sending them a box of oranges & olives before they came here. She was 10 years old. That was the first time she'd tasted olives.

Aunt Glenna came out next her Dad sent her $100.00 and she came by Pullman.

She had been working in Rock Island taking care of kids. She was about 17. She remembers Aunt Ellie making Ray BVDs out of flour sacks. (BVDs - one piece underwear sleeveless v neck & shorts). Flora came next - Aunt Glenna & Joe were married already. Ray & Joe paid to get her & the kids here & got her a house to live in. Clyde came several yrs later. (They lived on Franklin). Then Lorita & Ralph came next.

When Aunt Glenna's first child was born Richard 1st - she went to visit Uncle Allen in Fair Oaks - Raymond lived with him & she was told her & the baby were welcomed but not Uncle Joe. She never went back. The baby died of crib death when he was 10 months old.

My father said he remembers Uncle Allen & Bill drinking & partying with their half brother the preacher. He said that in those days 25 miles was a long ways apart so no one knew the preacher was drinking. This was before they came to Calif. Pop said he remembers the name Nye (sp?)

Aunt Glenna said her dad lived with her when her first baby was born part of the time. She also said my folks lived with them for a while after they married (Aunt Glenna lived in the brick yard.) Then my dad started work for Southern Pacific."
