Rebecca Williamson was born on Rock House Fork of Big Creek in what was once Floyd County, now Pike County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of Benjamin and Lucretia Scott Williamson and a granddaughter of Alden Williamson.
Rebecca married Paul Alley on March 27, 1820. Paul and Rebecca lived at Rock House Fork on Big Creek at first, then eventually bought what was later called the Alley farm on the Kentucky side of the Tug River, five miles below what is now Williamson, WV. Their farm consisted of 100 acres of river front land and all of Hurricane Creek, altogether about 600 acres.
According to the notes left behind by Joseph Alley, a great grandson of Paul and Rebecca Alley, "One June 1, 1863, after her children were all grown and married, except the baby, Rebecca died and was buried on the point, just below the mouth of Hurricane. The point is known as Point Truth. Why it was named that seems to be a mystery now. The name may have, in some way, been connected with the character of the family that lived there."
At this time the Civil War was raging and after the death of Rebecca, Paul Alley and his family decided to move to a more remote section of the country. They moved to the Middle Fork of Rockcastle Creek, in what is now Martin County, KY.
