Biography

Henry was born in 1868 in Illinois. When grown he moved to Wagoner in the northeastern area of the Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) where he met Effie Mae Tetrick. They married and settled down but Henry must have become enthralled hearing stories about Golden California because in 1902 he and his wife packed up their three children at the time and headed west to where Effie's Tetrick family relatives had moved in the San Joaquin Valley. They ended up in Porterville, California where Henry and Effie had their 4th child. Henry found work for a large land owner by the name of W.P. Bartlett [1]. He soon became Mr. Bartlett's ranch foreman and good friend. Henry was a people person always happy to pass the time with and help others. He owned a prize pair of mules that he cherished. He would pass away 4 months after Effie in 1955 at 87 years of age.
