Biography

George was born about 1863, the child of James and Mary (Teasley) Williford, in Bond County, Illinois, where he was raised. George's parents would eventually relocate to Arkansas sometime between 1880 and 1887, and then move on to Wagoner, Indian Territory, Oklahoma.

In 1895 he would marry Rebecca Strickler, daughter of John and Eliza (Louise) Strickler, in the Indian Territory now known as Oklahoma. Rebecca was about three years older than George and had a daughter by another man:

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Simmons or Simamon (1890-after 1939))

George helped raise Lizzie and there is a record that indicates he may have adopted her, based upon Lizzie being called Williford. George and Rebecca had no children of their own.

According to the 1910 US Census, George worked as a teamster to support his family. He would pass away sometime after 1920 at about 57-60 years of age. No burial record was found.
