Benjamin Franklin Willis was born in 1765, son of Henry Willis (~1732–~1813) and Mary Isabelle Watkins (1733–1800).

Benjamin's son, Benjamin Jr. "moved to Tennesse before the Civil War and died there, leaving his six sons to be raised by two Sams brothers."
