Biography

Francis was born about 1868 ^[1].

Francis Willis married Alice Emily Goodfellow^[2] Francis James Willis ASC (army service Corp no: 399263) was too old for active service and drove army trucks from London to Dover and Folkestone with supplies. He then returned wounded soldiers via Tunbridge Wells where Phyllis Fowler was working as a volunteer nurse. He fathered a son Carol Francis Willis, born 7/11/1919 with her, and he possibly also entered a bigamous marriage with her: Phyllis Henrietta Mountain Willis, nee Fowler. B.18/8/1889 Leeds A descendent has photos of the three of them when Carol (which is Irish for Charles rather than a girls name) was a baby about 1 year old.

Francis travelled to NZ with wife Alice and daughters on the Arawa from Southampton on or around May 1922 the date is unclear.

He passed away in 1945 age 77.^[3]
