Biography

John W. Willis was the second child of Lewis Willis and Mary Champe. He was also referred to as Maj. "Jack" Willis. He entered the army at the beginning of the Revolution; serving through the entire war, he rose to the rank of major[1]. He died in 1802.[2]

Maj. John "Jack" W. Willis married Ann Beale, daughter of Elizabeth Madison (sister of Col. James, and aunt of President Madison) and Col. Richard Beale.
