Capt. John Kyle's wife was Hannah Anderson, the daughter of Samuel and Ann Anderson of Colerain Township, Lancaster County, PA. O.M. Kile (in his Partial History of the Kyle, Kile, Coyle Family in America (1958)) speculated that her maiden name was Wilson, but this is incorrect. Her son John's death record indicates that her maiden name was Anderson. See Trumbull County, Ohio, Death Records (John Kyle, 28 Apr 1870). Samuel Anderson's 1764 Will also provides a bequest to his daughter "Hannah Kyle." See Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Will Book B:556. In addition, Samuel Anderson is buried in the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Bart Township, Lancaster County, PA, where Capt. John Kyle's grandparents, John and Ann Kyle, are also buried (Colerain Township is also located immediately south of Bart Township).

In addition, Hannah Anderson Kyle's brother, Joshua Anderson, was married to Isabella Work, Capt. John Kyle's first cousin (she was the daughter of Andrew Work and John's paternal aunt, Isabella Kyle). See Work Family History: Twelve Generations of Works in America, 1690-1969, p. 31; Lancaster County, PA Will Book C:595 (Andrew Work 1779 Will naming daughter Isabella Anderson). Also, John and Hannah Kyle's second son, Joshua, is likely named after Joshua Anderson (their first son was already named Samuel (because Capt. John Kyle's father was also named Samuel)).
