Biography

Elizabeth (Winborne) Bass was a North Carolina colonist.

Elizabeth was born about 1710 in Virginia. She is the daughter of William Winborne. Her exact date if death is unknown, but she probably passed away between 1752 (birth of dau Elizabeth) and June 1777 in Northampton County, North Carolina. She is known to be living in 1748 when she is named in a deed with husband John in sale of land to Elizabeth's cousin William Winborn. She is not named in John's will dated dated 14 June 1777 and proved in Northampton County Court at the September Court 1777.[1]

Elizabeth married John Bass on 18 January 1732 in Bertie County, North Carolina (Northampton County in 1741). [citation needed] Children named in John's will: Jacob, John, Abraham, Issac, Jethro, Drury Bass, and Alse Earp, Undin Council and Elizabeth Brittle. Some also add a son Thomas, although no Thomas is named in John's will.

Winbourne-42 and Winborne-12 appear to represent the same person because: nearly same birth date, place; both daughter of William Winborne; both married to John Bass. Death date needs to be reconciled. "Winborne" is most common spelling, see father and siblings.
Winborn-128 and Winborne-12 appear to represent the same person because: birth date needs to be reconciled; both wife of John Bass and mother of Jacob Bass.
