Sarah Frances Winecoff Adderholdt, 89, of Powell Road, Lenoir, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008. Mrs. Adderholdt was born in Cabarrus County to the late Bachman Rose Winecoff and Margaret Ola Hurlocker Winecoff. She was a retired school teacher with the Caldwell County public school system and a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In addition to her love for her family, she enjoyed gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Adderholdt, two brothers, a sister, and a grandson. Survivors include a son, John F. Adderholdt and wife, Esther, of Inman, S.C.; two daughters, Sarah Krieger and husband, Mitchell, of East Brunswick, N.J., and Mary A. Greene and husband, Alex, of Alpharetta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Portia Krieger, Samuel Greene, Max Krieger, Isaac Adderholdt and Isaiah Adderholdt. The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Pendry's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hudson with Pastor Marcus Ollis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Skip Downs, Neil Craig, Ronnie Taylor, Larry Sigmond, Samuel Greene and Max Krieger. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 352 Central Street, Hudson, NC 28638.
