Death location determined by tax list after 1787.[1] Land he owned later owned by Samuel Winfrey.
In "Tidewater Virginia Families," Israel's relation to the Slaughter and Butler families is mentioned on page 132.
He is also mentioned in "Historical Southern Families, Vol. XI" under the entry of Joseph Baugh, page 234, where he was left an acre of land adjoining his mill in December of 1777. It's mentioned here that the land in question was in the part of Cumberland County that was made into Powhatan County in 1777. Israel's name appears on a petition signed in May of 1777 asking for Cumberland County to be divided.[2]
Research Notes
Robley E. Winfrey papers show a chart dated 1936 that indicated a land sale by Israel which noted the land joined where "my son John now lives...". (not documented).[3]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Israel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Israel:
