Biography
Robert Wingate was born in 1500 in Streatley, Bedfordshire, the son of William Wingate and Jane (Morecot) Wingate. He married Joane Porter. They were the parents of l Margery (Wingate) Norton and Edmund Wingate. Robert died in 1552 in Streatley, Bedfordshire, England.
Children listed in the Visitation of Bedfordshire:
- Edmund Wingate. He had two wives: Elizabeth, daughter of Ralph Astry, 2nd Mary Belfield.
- Edward Wingate. Clerk of the Exchequer to Queen Elizabeth I. 1594.
- Elizabeth Wingate, married a Short.
